According to Gartner, the average number of SaaS applications used by companies reached 125 in 2022, growing at a rate of 15–20% annually. In a survey conducted by MegazoneCloud, its clients reported using more than 30 SaaS tools on average.
Due to the nature of SaaS—purchased as individual accounts rather than packaged software—departments and individuals often sign up for tools independently, creating blind spots in security and cost management.
In one SaaS operations (SaaSOps) consulting engagement, Megazone PoPs revealed that a client was actually using 26% more SaaS tools than the management team had recognized.
